Largest Crowd of the Aurora Meeting in Prospect. AURORA, 111., May 26.— Although they may not provide the favorite for the race, Chicago turf patrons will have a powerful hand to play in the Illinois Derbv which is to be renewed for a 2,000 added prize at the Fox Valley course here Saturday afternoon. Of the twelve eligibles which seem most likely to start in the closing day stake, seven are owned by Chicagoans, who have their strongest representation in the . Aurora fixture in some years. WRIGHTS THREE ELIGD3LES. Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, who maintains the fashionable Milky Way Farm Stable, is likely to start both Mountain Ridge and John One in the mile and a furlong contest while Warren Wright, master of the equally fashionable Calumet Farm, is expected to be represented by Taxes, although he also named Bull Lea and Sickle T., for the race. These capable three-year-olds now are : quartered at Lincoln Fields, having been shipped there from Kentucky, and are to be vanned here for Saturdays feature. Also Chicago owned are Elooto, which : ; performs under the silks of Mrs. M E ; OTooles Blue Ridge Farm, Xavier, the representative of Wesley Sears; Dolly Val, a filly owned by James Emery, and Silver Sarah, another miss, which is the derby hope of A. R. Born. I All these horses have come up to their derby engagements in excellent condition and their presence in the starting lineup wiU attract much local attention to its running. I The favorite for the race, however, may be supplied by either Mrs. Payne Whitney owner of the great Greentree Stable, or Mrs Kirby Ramsey of Louisville. Mrs. Whitney will have two starters. Birthday and Gangplank, while the Ramsey colorbearer is the steady going three-year-old, Gov. COUNT VALIANT MUDLARK. The others which are expected to make up the Derby field are Count Valiant, the mud-running star of P. L. Kelleys stable and Frank Serembas My Feng. The lat-ters two stablemates, Fairflax and Pin Money, also are eligible for the Derby but they failed to impress in the six furlongs Waukegan Purse here yesterday when Dolly Val was returned the winner. Pelter, the Derby eligible of A. G. Tarn, also failed to run-up to expectations in the same race. Interest in the Derby is running high here and if good weather, little of which has favored the local track this spring, prevails, j the crowd will be the largest of the season. There is a lively demand for boxes and the management has hopes of entertaining a capacity gathering for the closing day.
