PLUCKY BYRD, always under strong handling and repeatedly straightened up as he attempted to bear to the inside, dropped back slightly on the stretch turn, where he threatened to impede horses on the inside, took a short lead with a rush when straight in the stretch, but was under strong urging to hold the advantage. GAY JANE, well up from the start, saved much ground and held on with good courage. HASTY RUTH, far back for a half mile, came with a rush thereafter and finished fastest. DONGY raced evenly. LOVELY SISTER received a hustling ride, swerved out slightly on the stretch turn and tired in the last three-sixteenths. GAY BUBBLE raced into an easy lead before reaching the turn, where she was taken under strong reserve, gamely withstood the challenge of ONE NIGHT and tired in the late stages, but stalled off ARIANNA. The latter, lucky to save ground when racing far back, moved up fast after coming to the outside and also tired near the end, but was wearing down the winner. ONE NIGHT, rated under mild restraint for a half mile, made a bid when called upon, but faltered in the last fifty yards. IMA GREENOCK raced evenly. ABBY B. saved ground and had no mishaps. PAR QUEEN was held safe. DR. MENENDEZ, fractious at the post and awav slowly, bled after going a quarter and was pulled up. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Ariel Cross, May 2, 1936— 1:10%— 4— 115. JUST BUCK began to move up when saving ground on the stretch turn, continued strongly to take command when straightened out in the last three-sixteenths and held sway to the end. ROBERT S., fractious at the post and away poorly, worked his way up gradually and outgamed FLIGHTAWAY at the end in a fine effort. FLIGHTAWAY, close 10 the pace from the start and on the inside after the first eighth, tired slightly when the real tost came. TED HUSING was near the middle of the track throughout and showed a good effort. CLIVE closed fast. LEE ALLGEIER had early speed and bore out badly on the stretci turn.
