LIGHT CRUISER was unable to keep up early, worked his way up steadily in the last three eighths and closed with good energy in the final drive. ONRUSH went into contention on the outside nearing the far turn, made a bid to reach the leaders, moved up briefly, although unable to seriously threaten, and tired slightly under urging through the last eighth. OTTOMAN was well placed early, but was unable to improve his position when placed under pressure. MEDIUS DIES loomed up on the outside midway of the far turn, then dropped back.
