1 1 WOODBINE PARK NOTES ! ♦- ; Jockey E. Burns was fined 5 by the stewards for rough riding while astride R. R. Leslies Bobs First in the first race Thursday. The Medway Stables Slycat made his first appearance on the track Thursday morning since his running in the Kings Plate. The son of Merry Monarch suffered a side injury in that race, which has responded to treatment and he has been placed back in serious training. , Jockey George McAloney, who is making a come-back in the saddle at Woodbine, rode in Montreal four years ago and has been in the employ of Pat Delaney for some time. P. Orpen who accepted his first mount astride Big Fish, is under contract to W. T. Raines. A. Snyder who also made his first appearance under silks in the maiden jockeys race today, is under contract to H. R. Bain. Trainer Eddie Bowie reports that he is having Lumberer operated on by Dr. Fowler for a throat ailment. The five-year-old Cudgel gelding will be rested up following the operation and then converted into a jumper. Assistant starters in the crew of Starter Rowe are at Thorncliffe Park, schooling daily. The track at Leaside is of best condition and horses working well over it. Racing secretary R. S. Shelley received great response from horsemen for the William Memorial Handicap, closing day feature. The field will include the best of the home-breds in training. The O. J. C. had added ,000 to the purse value brineinjr * the total to ,000.
