INAUGURAL DRAWS EIGHTEEN Biggest List of Nominations in History of Agawam Park — Schedule Connecticut-Massachusetts Races. SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 26.— The largest number of nominations for any handicap in the history of Agawam Park were recorded by racing secretary M. C. "Ty" Shea today, when nominations closed for next Saturdays running of the ,000 Inaugural Agawam Handicap. Evidence that there was an abundance of handicap and allowance horses in the barns here was afforded when eighteen thoroughbreds were put up for weights, with word from Boston that several other nominations were in the mail. It is certain that a capacity field will face starter Ira Gregory in the opening feature. Early favoritism among the local turfmen is shared by A. C. Norris Guy Fawkes, F. J. Vollmers Sun Antioch, and D. C. Halls Natty Boy. Guy Fawkes has been burning up the track in morning trials, his best move being an easy five-eighths in 1:01%. SHOWS SPEED. Sun Antioch has also displayed a high turn of speed since his arrival from Maryland, while Natty Boy was a recent winner at Suffolk Downs over High Grade company and vanned over in peak condition. Others almost certain to go through the entry box Friday morning include Mrs. E. A. I Rotellis Woof, R. Robertsons Bright and Early, Paul Andolinos Gay Balko, Sylvester Veitchs Unheralded, William Irvines Lad-field, P. S. P. Randolphs Upside Down, and Jack Carters Caravel. A new feature is races fashioned for horses owned by residents of Massachusetts and Connecticut and should go far towards fostering breeding and racing in these two states. The second are the new divisional races, with every horse on the grounds classified in A to D divisions. Horsemen who do not wish to risk losing their horses in claiming races, may enter their favorites in these divisional events, which will carry an allowance clause.
