YANKS TRIUMPH 6 TO 3 Two Home Runs by Crosetti and DiMaggio Turn Defeat to Victory. Dizzy Dean Pitches Great Game for Seven Innings Joe Marty the Batting Hero for Cubs. WRIGLEY FIELD, CHICAGO, 111., Oct. 6. Two home runs from the murderous bats of the slugging Yanks changed the complexion of the second game of the World Series and turned apparent defeat into victory for the American League champions. With the score 3 to 2 in favor of the Cubs at the end of seven innings, Frank Crosetti, brilliant shortstop of the Yanks, after playing a great fielding game, came to bat in the eighth inning and with one on, blasted the first of the circuit smashes to put his team in front 4 to 3. Joe DiMaggio put the game on ice in the ninth by hitting another homer following Henrichs single in the first of the ninth. Both drives were made off the pitching of Dizzy Dean, who had, up to that inning, held the Yanks to three hits, one of which was due to a bobble on the part of Hack and Jurgis, who let a slow roller pass between them and permit a run to score. "Lefty" Gomez pitched for the Yanks until relieved in the eighth for a pinch hitter and received credit for the victory to keep his score clean in World Series contests. The Cubs hit Gomez freely and outbatted the Yanks eleven hits to seven. Joe Marty was the hitting hero of the Cubs with three safe blows, including a double that scored two runs. Joe DiMaggio made the most spectacular catch of the series in the first inning when he raced to the wall in center field to pull down Joe Martys long drive. Joe Marty, who was robbed of a hit by Joe DiMaggios great catch against the fence in center field in the first inning, doubled in the third, scoring two runs for the Cubs. ! His hit came after Hack and Herman had singled. j After Gehrig singled in the first of the fourth, Bill Dickey hit into a fast double play, Herman to Jurges to Collins, in a thriller that brought the crowd to its feet. The brilliant Crosetti, who has been playing a sensational game for the Yanks at short, nailed one from Hack in the Cubs half of the same inning to double Dean and Hack by way of Gordon to Gehrig.
