I KROVITZ ROCKINGHAM STAR Scores Third Victory Astride Aureate in Feature Event. Long Early Lead Stands Winner in Good Stead in Driving Finish Fast Footing. SALEM, N. H., Oct. G. B. M. Smiths Aureate, five-year-old gelding by Golden Spire, accounted for another purse this afternoon. This was the fifth and feature event on the local program at six furlongs. It called together a half-dozen of the better sprinting platers. Harry Krovitz had the mount on the winner, accounting for his third victory of the afternoon. The Revere boy had previously ridden both ends of the "Daily Double." Paul Andolinos Chancer was second, a half-length back of the winner and a neck in advance of Miss E. T. Gran-fields Dark Beau. Pumpgun finished fourth, four lengths in front of the staunchly backed Pordina. Aureate went to the lead soon after the start. He opened up a big advantage, which probably was the way he won, as he was driving hard at the finish, to stall off the determined efforts of Chancer. Dark Beau was third virtually all the way, as the favorite, which raced in third position for three furlongs, began to drop back. The program was conducted under clear skies and over a fast track. The weather, the coldest of the meeting, reduced the crowd materially and, consequently, the mutuel handle showed a decline. The winner of the feature finished out in 1:13.
