PEGGY BYRD took command quickly, was on the inside after the first quarter and held on fairly well, but was not good enough. CHARLOTTE G., taken back early and remaining far out of it for a half mile, closed strongly in the last three-sixteenths. KITTY CARROLL tired in the stretch. ALMA NUGGET had no mishaps. HO began to move up between horses when under steady restraint on. the turn, came out in the stretch and continued boldly after taking command. JANE W., unable, to improve her position for a half mile, also came out in the stretch and, coming with a rush in the last three-sixteenths, headed MAYMISS in the last stride. The latter, lucky to save much ground, particularly in the stretch, was allowed to move up "gradually after about three-eighths and held on gamely to the finish. GAMING raced prominently from the start, but tired in the last fifty yards. JOHNNIE DEAR moved up on the inside on the final turn, swerved out in the stretch and gave way in the drive. The latter, a factor from the start and in hand for a half mile, hung on gamely to the last sixteenth, where he tired. TOMS LADY, forced to race very wide, tired after working her way to a contending position. KATHERINE G. had speed and was tiring when impeded in the stretch, TAB ME r was outrun. FRONTIER, away slowly, worked his way up gradually the first half mile, hung briefly while being forced very wide soon alter reaching the final quarter, but rallied in the .last eighth and got up in the closing strides. MOTHERS LOVE moved up on the inside rounding the turn, responded to strong pressure to take command and held on stubbornly, but could not hold the winner. LEGAL ADVICE, in close quarters early, did not respond to energetic riding in the first half mile, came through on the inside when closing well and appeared strongest of the leaders at the close. MINIMUM raced prominently from the start, was under strong pressure after a half mile and faltered in the late stages. LARRY S. had good speed, drifted out rounding tlie turn, raced wide thereafter and tired sharply in the final eighth. BEL ESPOIR, benefited by the pace, raced under strong restraint for about three-quarters, began to move with a rush when racing wide on the stretch turn and, taking a good lead in the stretch, stalled off MYPONNE. The latter started to move up on the extreme outside leaving the back stretch, sustained good speed through the final quarter and neared the lead in the last fifty yards, but was outfinished by the winner. THE SHINGLER, badly outrun for three-quarters, came to the outside in . the stretch and closed with excellent belated speed. POLLY HASTINGS raced with good speed from the start and was In hand for three-quarters, but tired when called upon. MASTERPIECE, also nicely rated, faltered when placed to pressure in the stretch. COLONEL JOE had no mishaps. ABDICATOR, on the inside after the first eighth, was under strong urging after reaching the final half mile and quit badly in the stretch. CARAVEL, lucky to save mucli ground, began to improve her position after reaching the second turn, came boldly under increased pressure the last three-sixteenths and drew out fast in the last sixteenth. MERRYMOOD was rated along under a good hold for five-eighths, was forced wide entering the stretch and remained out while holding on with good courage in the drive. OUR REIGH worked his way up on the inside, came out after taking a short lead entering the stretch and held on well, but gave way to MERRYMOOD in the final strides. DISTRACTIBLE was a sharp factor from the start, but failed to stay in the drive. SUMATRA HI. raced wide early, followed KEENE JACK out on the far turn, cut to the inside on the final turn, but again came out in the stretch and was unable to improve her position.
