PIE TRAYNORS JOB IS SAFE William Benswanger, president of the Pittsburgh Pirates, was a visitor for the World Series. When asked about whether or not Pie Traynor would manage the Pirates next year, said: "If Pie Traynor wants to manage my ball club again next season he can do it. And I think hell want to." Benswangers statement put an end to the rumors that the Pirate manager who has so often pushed his team up in front only to see it wilt and drop out of the race, would not be back in 1939.
