BERNIE BIERMAN ILL MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Oct. 6. Suffering .from a bad cold since last Saturday, Bernie Bierman, coach of the University of Minnesota football team, was forced to quit near the end of Tuesdays drill and, upon the advice of physicians, retired to the sidelines from where he has been directing the team from a chair all wrapped in blankets.
