SHREVEPORTS CLOSING DAY Most Successful Meeting in History of Louisiana Track. Attractive Card of Eight Races Arranged for Getaway Program Sixteen In Marathon. SHREVEPORT, La., Nov. 18. Thoroughbred horse racing reaches its climax for the autumn at the State Jockey Clubs Fair Grounds tomorrow and the curtain will be rung down in a blaze of glory and the twenty-five days season goes down in turf annals as the most successful ever staged in North Louisiana. Gala preparations have been completed for the handling of one of the largest gatherings of racing fans during the season. An attractive program of eight races have been arranged by racing secretary E. A. Hileman for the finale and although an off track will prevail for the occasion, well-filled and balanced races are on tap. A j diversified program of sprints and distance j events round out the offering of the State Jockey Club. Topping the bill is the Marathon Purse, designed for three-year-olds and upward at a distance of a mile and a half. Marathon racing has proved extremely popular with the racing devotees in this section and the number of entries for the route event attests to the desire of owners and trainers for distance racing. MARATHON ATTRACTS BIG FIELD. A field of sixteen were named in the overnight entries for the Marathon and includes several runners which have demonstrated distance ability on an off track. A limit field of ten starters is regarded as quite certain in the Marathon Purse, which will be staged as the eighth race of the bill. The list of eligibles announced includes Irish Girl, Royal Cloud, Lightin Bill, Race Craft, Pompish, Sky Orme, Amasin, Kuvera, Mad Career, Idle Flirt, Ragacreek, Hours-end, Charles Kripp, Dunfox, Kah Minca and Easy Bid. In addition to the mile and a half race, four other events ranging from a mile and seventy yards to a mile and a furlong, should provide some thrilling sport for the spectators. The first trio of races engages members of the sprint ranks two of which are at six furlongs, and the other over a route of six and one-half furlongs.
