SHREVEPORT ANNUAL MEETING Officials of Louisiana Track Pleased With Patronage Many Stables Move to New Orleans. SHREVEPORT, La., Nov. 19. Thoroughbred horse racing for the year was completed at the State Fair Grounds, Saturday, after the most satisfactory session started here. Large crowds turned out regularly and definitely established the fact that sports lovers of this section are keen for racing. Officials who, prior to the opening, indicated that the meeting this year was strictly experimental, today expressed profound satisfaction over the success of the venture and intimated that the Shreveporters have proved beyond doubt that an annual fall meeting is what they want. The manner in which the sport has been conducted places it on a par with racing on some of the mile tracks of the country. That the racing has been formful is revealed in the percentage of winning favorites exceeding a total of over 34 per cent of the choices. SUSPENSIONS JUSTIFIED. It was not necessary for the stewards to take action too frequently against offenders and rough riding was reduced to a minimum. Those whose actions justified suspension were treated in drastic manner and all were cautioned to guide themselves accordingly. Fair Grounds officials went to considerable expense in improving the grounds and building new barns. Additional improvements are planned for the future, which are to be discussed more thoroughly by directors, of the organization. With the windup of the season on Saturday, many stables which participated in racing here, will be transferred to New Orleans during the early part of the week for the winter season of the Louisiana Jockey Club.
