A. G. VANDERBILT SHIPPING 24 Heelfly and Scabbard Likely Nominees for 00,000 Race. Maryland Sportsman Sending Fourteen Two Year-Olds to West Coast Track-Adventurer Included. LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 19. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt has notified the Los Angeles Turf -Club that he will ship twenty-four horses from his Sycamore Farm in Maryland the last of this month to arrive at Santa Anita for the opening of the meeting on December 31. It has been announced, that Silvio Coucci, signed as the new Van- derbilt rider, will go to Tanforan and lates come here to handle the stables mounts. Topping the consignment and likely nominees for the 00,000 added Santa, Anita Handicap will be Heelfly and Scabbard, the imported Sickle La Bayonette four-year-old whom A. Pelleteri introduced here last season. Heelfly has not raced since the serious sick spell he suffered last year while being shipped to Santa Anita but is reported to be galloping and training satisfactorily to start another campaign. The prominent Maryland sportsman has no less than fourteen two-year-olds, among them Impound, Outdone and Spot News as probable candidates for the 0,000 added Santa Anita Derby. DISCOVERYS BROTHER. Much interest will be aroused in the appearance of the two-year-old chestnut colt, Adventurer, a full brother to the famous Discovery. Adventurer, which was bought for 0,000 highest price paid for a yearling in 1937 has never started and will be trained to make his racing debut at Santa Anita. There are a number of the Vanderbilt favorites returning. Galley Slave, which set a worlds record of 32 seconds for three furlongs at Santa Anita on January 27 last season; Airflame, which had equalled the previous record of :33 the year before; Pit Bull and others.
