MERINA raced to the front at once and, saved slightly while makine: the pace, had enough left to withstand a stretch challenge from THISTLE AIR, holding the latter to -the end. THISTLE AIR moved up strongly on the inside rounding the stretch turn to make a game bid on the inside of the winner, but was not good enough. REPROACH was always close to the pace and had no excuses. TISTRUE was badly outrun early and came gamely when too late. DIRECT was never a dangerous contender and turned in a disappointing effort. SOME TURLEY could not raise a respectable gallop. CHARTRES was badly outrun all the way and can do better. MIDA R. had speed for three-quarters. Corrected weight Ready Teddy, 112. FOUNTAIN GROVE raced to the front early and, racing as if much the best, was never in serious , danger. SKY SHOOT got through several openings next to the rail to reach a contending position, but was not cood enough for the winner, although holding the others safe. HIGH ACE was well up throughout. DOLICIA BOY raced evenlv and showed a creditable effort. TONTA had speed for a half mile, then tired. BENS HOPE bore out in the stretch, carrying SKY ANGEL with him. OUR HAVEN lacked early speed and was outrun to the stretch, then came to the middle of the track to wear down MASTER JEAN and held REDCAR safe. The latter, probably best, was in close quarters after leaving the back stretch, dropped back, then swerved in the run home, but finished fast and gamely. MASTER JEAN showed good speed while racing on the outside in the early stages and took a clear lead in the stretch to hold on well. FRANK O., outrun early, was going well at the finish. JONIES GIRL tired. EASTER ELE dropped back after having been in close quarters rounding the stretch turn. ANTIGUA quit. Scratched 68671 Trip By, 103. SIR RIDGWAY sprinted into a forward position soon after the start and, coming to the outside of BATTLE CALL in the stretch, headed the latter to win going away. BATTLE CALL raced to the front early and, although racing wide, was in hand to the stretch, but could not resist the winner when let down. AMNERIS was in close quarters rounding the far turn, but finished well. BROADWAY BREEZE was racing close up next to the rail after leaving the back stretch when he was shut off and dropped back, then came again, but had little chance. DELINE BANK, in close qirarters soon after the start, dropped back to last place and was never a factor. MIDWICK and BLAUFUSS seemed outclassed. FIFTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. THE LAKE displayed good speed in pacemaking, but tired near the end. THISTLE GRACE had no excuses and hung in the last sixteenth. REY ORO had some early speed. PARSCOUT, off poorly, was outrun for half the distance, then came fast on the outside to get to the front rounding the stretch turn and, drawing into a good lead, was never 5r serious danger, although shaken up near the end. SWEEPALOT, rated in, the early running, was forced to race wide while making his move and, handling his weight well in the stretch, was gaining on the winner. ADVOCATOR moved up close to the leaders rounding the far turn, but hung in the final drive. WILD TURKEY, off poorly, made up much ground. GALLACLAY and COUNT ATLAS, the early pacemakers, dropped back when the real racing began. Scratched 68805 Masker, 105; 68806 Wing and Wing, 100. Overweight Wild Turkey, 2 pounds.
