MARYLAND DATES AGREEMENT Old Line States Four Major Tracks Confer on Racing Dates for Next Season. BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 19. Marylands four major tracks have drawn up their, schedule for 1939 and it is anticipated the State Racing Commission will approve it. Since all are in agreement, there is prac- tically no change being made by the powers that govern the sport within this common- j wealth. Each of the four courses have, taken twenty-five days, the limit allowed by law, Bowie opening the spring season on April 1 and Pimlico closing it on May 13 with the Preakness running. Havre de Grace will inaugurate the fall period on September 18, with the finale at Bowie on November 30, which is Thanksgiving Day. During the summer the half-milers will hold forth, but these tracks have not drawn up a schedule as yet. The following are the proposed dates for the mile tracks for 1939: Bowie April 1 to April 14 12 days. Havre de Grace April 15 to April 29 13 days. . Pimlico May 1 to May 13 12 days. Havre de Grace September 18 to September 30 12 days. Laurel October 3 to October 31 25 days. Pimlico November 1 to November 15 13 days. Bowie November 16 to November 30 13 days. The spring schedule is a compact one, while in the fallthere will be .a gap of only a single racing day between Havre dc Grace and Laurel.
