VONNIE, fractious at the starting gate, began swiftly and, saving ground throughout, Just lasted to outstay LADY PAL in a hard drive. The latter, in a tangle going to the first turn, bore out slightly, moved up with a rush thereafter and closed strongly. NAHALLAC, taken back soon after the start and forced to race wide, closed a good gap and showed a good effort. OUR MARY had no mishaps. TINY COMET, well un from the start, was taken up approachin" the final turn an"d tired. HARRYS CHOICE was rushed into a commanding lead at once, saved ground throughout, increased his advantage quickly after going a half mile, then tired slightly in the last stages. HOUSTONIAN was taken under light restraint early, improved his position gradually and finished well under strenuous urging. WHISK K. began slowly, was outrun for three-eighths, worked his way up rapidly thereafter and finished strongly. IDLE WORKER, on the outside all the way and losing much ground, closed a good gap. PRAIRIE KING was taken back when in close quarters after threo-eiehths. SKOTCHY was through early. HIGH COLOR quit. The latter worked his way up gradually on the inside and showed a good effort. EDDIES BROTHER was forced wide while working his -way up, but hung after reaching contention. SILENT DON, slow to begin, worked his way up on the outside with a rush in the first half mile, drew into a commanding lead rapidly, but had to he vigorously shaken up in the last stages. TEXAS MAID broke swiftly, but was taken hack soon, improved her position rapidly after a half mile and was getting to the winner steadily in the last sixteenth. GAY BLADE, well up throughout and on the inside, tired under pressure. ODDESA BEAU raced wide and, but for this mishap, might have been closer up. McGONIGLE, badly outrun for three-quarters, improved his position. STAR ROYAL tired after being well up for five-eighths. WHOA BACK, taken in hand early, but never far out of it, moved up threateningly in the final eighth, but faltered near the end. ROLL HOME, far back for a half mile, improved his position rapidly thereafter, was forced wide and tired. PROHIBITION closed a good cap. The latter set the pace under pressure to the final sixteenth, then came through on the inside and finished gamely, but could not withstand the winner. SUN REE forced the pace for five-eighths, then tired when placed to strong urging. VAN LAW was well up to the final eighth, then tired. VOLTINA quit. BILLY I. refused to break.
