t FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES J : Among the stables due here early this week from New England are those of James Emery, A. J. Halliwell, Charles Gentry, H. D. Cox, E. B. Bice, L. L. Lycan and L. Chambers. Anthony Pelleteri is due to ship a car of horses here from Maryland this week. Ten horses, owned by Frank Orr, M. Cour-ant and J. Wienenga, arrived here Saturday from Tanforan. Eddie Miller, who mans the public address system at a number of the tracks, is here and will remain for the winter. After vacationing at his home in Poncha-toula, jockey Robert Montgomery checked in and will ride here free lance. Octave Viau got in with the good two-year-old Brodea, a stakes winner in Canada, and two yearlings. The horses J. T. Simmons has here for his wife are Palm Island, Mr. Quick, Cossack Girl, Black Mistress and All Lady. In addition he has Capt. Nadi for F. C. Burket, Ann Star for E. H. Baumgardner and a yearling, named Donna Gal, for R. L. Swope. The latter horse is a bay filly by Gallant Sir and Princess Donna and is a half-sister to Cossack Girl. Nick Spine is here to do the stable riding. R. Stubbs, a member of the racing secretarys staff here, is an arrival from Illinois. Jockey Joe Rosen has turned his engagement book over to former jockey Albert Mott and expects to become connected with one of the larger stables. Thos. C. Bradley, steward "at the Fair Grounds, yesterday began looking over the many license applications of jockeys and trainers already filed with the Louisiana Jockey Club. My Dess and Ilga are being conditioned by J. Perez for Miss Carolyne K. Magruder. Dan Hardy, former jockey, is training seven horses for racing here. For his own account he has Dyak, Lady Albert G., Wan-derobo, Charlotte G. and Portunus. In addition he is training Mac Whisk for R. J. Hamon and Doug Brashear for A. Nardi. Eddie Legerc got in Saturday with the Belmont Stable of L. Rosenbaum and the horses were put away in a private barn outside the grounds. The two horses which will carry the colors of Walter Creech here are Bright Land and In Chancery. i I I i j ! t
