Simms, master of Xalapa Farm, who has been ill for a long time has gone to Rochester, Minn., for observation and treatment, according to word from his farm in Bourbon County. Trainer Frank Kearns is arranging to take fifteen of Warren Wrights Calumet Farm horses to Miami. Trainer Steve Judge, who turned over Roy G. Martins Woodvale Farm horses at Keene-land to Howard Hoffman, has gone to Florida with his own horse, Master Sweep. Out at Coldstream Farm one hears that perhaps every trainer in the country out of a job, plus some who have jobs, have applied for or have intimated liking for the post made vacant by the death of Bert Michell. Trainer Charles Dodson is wintering Honey Chile in the big Tattersalls barn, adjoining the Fair Grounds, which is operated by W. J. Treacy, head of the Kentucky Sales Company, selling principally trotting and saddle horses. Trainer Howard Sterns will be in charge of the horses wintering at Calumet Farm, while trainer Frank Kearns is campaigning in Florida. , A number of yearlings have shown fast trials at Keeneland this month in preparation for racing at Florida tracks. The disposition of trainers not going to race this winter has been to ask no extreme speed from their charges. Dan B. Midkiff is preparing to leave thig week for California on a vacation. Dft Charles E. Hagyard is back from a hunting trip in Montana. Dr. D. L. Proctor and wife are back from a visit to their son at Cornell University. Jesse Spencer will take six horses to Flori ida this week. t Tom B. Young will open his public stable at Keeneland, January 1. j Roy Miller is shipping twenty-nine trottera from Lexington this week to New York, tb" take the steamship Pilsudski for Sweden on November 29. Miller purchased the horses: for A. D. Johan Nilson, of Hindby, Sweden He may purchase more at the Old Glory Sale in New York this week. J
