I TANFORAN TURF NOTES 3 and Eddie Thomas is in receipt of a letter from Chicago which states that Lou Peters, well known promoter and horseman of that city, is ill and in need of financial assistance. Peters was a prominent figure in turf circles when racing was being revived in Chicago about fifteen years ago and later raced a small string of. horses at Tijuana. Peters address is 3529 South Fifty-Second Court, Cicero, 111. Members of the California Turf Writers Association have received letters from Francis Albertanti, Hollywood Park publicity chief, written in Spanish. Francis, who is now director of publicity at Oriental Park, Cuba, has evidently gone native. The boys trust that he never becomes employed by the Shanghai Jockey Club. Jockey Alex Schlenker was an arrival from Chicago and will ride free lance for the remainder of. the meeting. Racing secretary John Maluvius expects about ten starters in the Lassie Stakes, Saturdays feature. Trainer Ross Cooper will I probably start three. 1 Friends of Harold "Mickey Dwyer, well known California mutuel manager, will be, grieved to learn that Mrs. Dwyer is in the hospital after having suffered a heart attack last week. Mrs. Dwyers condition is not serious, however. Mrs. Madelyn Morrissey has left for Agua Caliente, where she will be employed in a secretarial capacity. R. L. "Dick" Watts, who trains the horses of L. Barker, has shipped the Barker horses to Santa Anita to be rested up until the winter meeting. The shipment consisted of Decuria, Sumatra HI., Vespasiano and Gandhi II. Trainer Jack Taylor of the Woodruff Stable reports that he has taken the plater One Shen out of training and will rest him up until Santa Anita. Otto Rasch departed Sunday morning for Santa Anita with the horse Richlein. Rasch will pick up several horses at the latter track to start getting ready for training. Owner and trainer E. H. Beezley has appointed Harold Adams as stable agent. J Adams will make the engagements for apprentice B. Reynolds in the future. Jockey Robert McCarty, a recent arrival from Ohio, was granted a license to ride here at Tanforan and will be seen in action soon. McCarty will ride free lance. I
