Walters, Racing Secretary, Placing Judge and Clerk of Scales James Donovan Will Preside at Barrier. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Nov. 22. The staff of officials which will supervise the Caliente race meeting opening Thursday, was announced this morning by the track management. Heading the group is George W. Schilling, who will serve as presiding steward, in addition to his duties as general manager. Schilling is a veteran racing official of sixteen years of experience, having served as the top man in the judges stand at tracks in San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Spokane, Reno Agua Caliente and Canada. He is still associated with a number of these tracks. Joseph E. Walter will be 6ne of the busiest men at the track. Besides his position as racing secretary, he will be clerk of the scales and one of the placing judges. James Donovan, a thoroughly capable and experienced starter, will send the fields away from the gate. Al Morgan, who has served as an official here before, has been appointed paddock and placing judge. Completing the official family are Wesley "Quarter Horse" Neary, and William Mills, patrol judges; Charles Hagen, timer; Frank Reinhart, track superintendent; Dr. A. Gonzales, track physician; Drs. E. H. Crab-tree and Servando Osarnio, consulting physicians; Dr. C. W. Foelschow, steward at the start and track veterinary; and Dave Head-ington, manager of the mutuel department. E. Li. Caress will supervise the open betting ring and Al Connors will be in charge of the jockey room. MORE HORSES ARRIVE. Meanwhile horses continue to pour in to the Border Course, with thirty-one checking in yesterday. Among the better grade thoroughbreds in this shipment were Distribute, Brass Bottle and Jack Be Nimble, owned by E. E. Presnell. Among other arrivals were Broad Royal, Derrick Man, Aksala, Gold Jet, Barrette, Sky Quest, Sky King, Sky Mark, Sky Thunder, Our Crown, Lanty Boy, Sand Boot, Cresta Run, Evidently, Pickwick Maid, May Rap, Patsy O., Parade Step, Hard Boiled, Go.ld Clasp, Davidor, Mahomet, Mignon and Bee-son. Nominations close today for the Gover-j nors Inaugural Handicap, sprint feature of the Thanksgiving Day card and Walter is confident the race will attract a high class field. The jockey colony continues to grow and already about thirty riders are on hand, with" several top-notchers expected from Tanforan before the opening. Church; Ned Merritt, first string reinsman for Earl Beezley; Norman L. Pierson, champion of the British Columbia season during the summer; Don Neal, Clyde Turk, Owen Webster, Cliff Pierce, George Russo, Ray Christenson, Ted Carter, W. Losee, F. C. Smith, Frank Wilbourn, E. and. E. E. Phillips. PROMISING APPRENTICES. In the apprentice class are Robert Robinson, a promising youngster that rode with success at Bay Meadows and Tanforan, Rudolph Tryon, E. Wurtz and Hank Lasswell. Post time for the first race each day will be 1:30, manager Schilling announced today. The "Daily Double" will be offered on the second and third races, and the Quinella on the last race, Schilling stated. Thirty-one additional thoroughbreds were unloaded here this morning to be campaigned at the Caliente race meeting opening Thursday, and another carload was due from Tanforan late this afternoon. Heading todays consignment was E. E. Presnell, with three high class performers, Distribute, Brass Bottle and Jack Be Nimble, all recent winners in good fields at Bay Meadows. Presnell is expected to nominate one or two of these for the Governors Inaugural Handicap, six furlongs feature of the Thanksgiving Day program. The Gillespie L. and I. Co. of Arizona shipped in four of its "sky" horses, Sky Thunder, Sky Mark, Sky King and Sky Quest. Others checking in were W. A. McKinney, with the well known platers Broad Royal, Aksala and Derrick Man and a good three-year-old named Gold Jet; C. Davis, with Bar-rette; Hoeflin and Brown, with Our Crown; E. H. Glover, with Lanty Boy; W. L. Burn-side, with Sand Boot; J. McAvoy, with Cresta Run; Bert Ferris, with Evidently; Earl Sorrel, with Pickwick Maid; C. G. Gardner, with May Rap and Patsy O.; L. D. Robertson, with Parade Step and Hard Boiled; F. R. Short, with Dan Monte; Harry Lighter, with Charming Lassie; H. Smith, with Bosinch; A. L. Jones, with Gold Clasp and Annoyed, and A .Marshall, with Davidor, Mignon and Mahomet. Beeson, a consistent winner in the North last summer, was shipped in to join the horses Harry Walters already has on hand here. A large number of horses were on the track for workouts again this morning, fifty-seven being clocked by the timers, and racing secretary Joe Walter is assured of plenty of- fit horses with which to fill races.
