PET ANIMALS WITH STABLES Dogs, Goats, Pigeons, Cats, Etc., Unloaded at Hialeah Park. . Advance Guard of Horses Beach Florida City for Winter Meeting Johnson Brings Fifteen Head. MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 22. Circus days are here again or at least it would appear so as carload after carload is unloaded at the Hialeah siding. Each stable has its pet animals which invariably accompany the horse shipments. Every variety of pet is to be found, many of them travelling companions to certain thoroughbreds, and they show undying loyalty to their equine friends. There are dogs, big and small; goats, pigeons, parrots, cats, canaries, ducks, rabbits, chickens and various and sundry other animals. A couple of seasons back, Jack Whyte, then trainer for Willis Sharpe Kilmer, unloaded one sunny afternoon at Hialeah. Coming off the cars along with the horses were two sacred donkeys, called such because their gray backs were peculiarly marked with a black cross; one great dane, one wire-haired terrier, one game cocki. and three game hens. The advance guard of horses and stable pets already has taken up winter quarters for the meeting that will begin January 11 and end March 4 at Joseph E. Wideners magnificent racing plant. With Hialeah Park opening its gates November 1 to horsemen for stabling and training, many shipped south early to take advantage of the opportunity afforded to rest up their racers in the balmy Florida sunshine preparatory to making them ready for the winter campaign.
