SISTER REIGH, racing strongly on the inside of WELSH STAR, went into a short lead after going three-eighths, was passed momentarily in the closing eighth, but came again to get up in the last few yards. WELSH STAR showed good ability in the footing and continued tenaciously after- being displaced. GENERAL HAY raced strongly while going prominently and held on with excellent courage-in the final drive. ARTIST raced on the outside until reaching the stretch, then finished strongly on the inside. LYCONNA was strongly urged, but was not good enough. DEAR GRACIE was never a factor. HAIL AMERICA broke her near rear ankle and was being pulled up. DEPINARD, ridden hard to take command in the opening eighth, responded readily when placed to a strong drive on the stretch turn and barely lasted long enough to withstand FREDRICK. The latter, in close quarters in the opening eighth while going close up, slipped through on the inside of the winner and just failed to set up under a vigorous drive. VERITAS improved her position stoutly after being crowded back in the first sixteenth. PERFECT LIAR raced evenly. MY GRAND could not stay. CANROCK labored in the footing. FRED ALMY broke sluggishly and raced wide. WITCH LAD was unable to threaten. MISS EPE, at home in the footing, was hustled to the front in the First eighth, raced into a long lead when straightened into the back stretch, was taken out into the better footing entering the stretch, but tired steadily ncaring the finish. TEPIN, going prominently, finished with determination in the final three-eighths while saving ground. LEW DUNLIN was strongly ridden while racing well placed, but could not threaten the first two in the late stages. LANVOILA worked her way up on the outside, but could not menace. CHICANNA broke in a tangle and was never dangerous. KEYED UP lacked speed. WHIP SNAKE showed no speed in the footing. JINNEAL broke slowly. GRUMPY bettered his position steadily after getting into full stride, stole through on the inside of the leaders entering the stretch, then closed stoutly to get up in the last twenty yards. SALLY QUICK followed closed to the pacemaker, rallied to engage INACTIVE, but could not withstand the winner. INACTIVE raced into a clear lead in the first half mile, went wide entering the stretch while tiring and weakened fast when caught. SCHLEY GOREE was held perfectly safe. MAN AT ARMS was never a threat. ROLL JORDAN tired after going five-eighths. JANSTAR could not reach contention. BELIEVER had no excuses. FLYING VIM raced to the pacemaker gradually when steered through on the inside midway of the back stretch, was in tight quarters until reaching the stretch, displaced LAST SCAMP inside the closing eighth and drew out steadily. LAST SCAMP was kept out from the rail from the beginning, shook off MATCH POINTj but could not stall off the winner in the closing drive. SCHLEY NURSE, lacking early speed, circled her field and finished with a rush. CHANNING moved up stoutly to reach a forward .position, but tired when the real issue came. CHATTERESS stumbled badly in the footing and fell back gradually, PLAYING DAN failed to threaten. MATCH POINT labored and failed to stay. The latter, in the first flight from the start, was gaining strongly at the finish. ZIPPY, breaking slower than usual, bettered his position stoutly and finished with good courage.
