ANGLO SAXON, hustled along in pursuit of the pacemaker, rallied strongly in the closing drive and wore down SUN ANTIOCH inside the final sixteenth. SUN ANTIOCH was urged hard to get to the front, set a steady pace while saving ground and held on willingly when placed to punishment. AIRLAP was promi- nent from the beginning and held on with excellent courage in the closing drive. BLACK ARROW was ridden strongly and showed a good performance. FREE CHILD improved his position on the outside and finished stoutly. GURKHA was in the thick of contention early, but failed to stay. BUTTER was never dangerous. BRANNON lacked speed. ADDIS could not enter contention. BAYDROP tired. EXTENDED broke sluggishly. ISTANBUL raced wide and made up ground slowly. HI-RYTHM broke in a tangle and was unable to get to his field until nearing the stretch. PEACHYPIE lacked speed and was never a threat. CHANCER was ridden hard while saving ground and continued tenaciously when the final test came. PATSEY BEGONE raced strongly, gained a short lead midway of the turn and held on gamely to the close. PRENNY was in the thick of contention from the start and tired in the closing eighth. ORIENT EXPRESS could not keep pace. DARK BEAU lost ground from the start. BOSONIA could not get to his company. FLY ME gome close to MICRO for three-quarters, moved into a sliort lead in the last half mile and saved ground, but could not withstand the winner. WOODWAAC improved his position stoutly in the last five-sixteenths VIRGINIA BOY, slow to settle in stride, finished with a bold rush. PHARABOO raced well placed, made a strone bid nearing the stretch, then tired under punishment. BERTILLON lost ground and failed to menace DIAVID began slowly, then finished with a belated rush. OLD MAIN ROAD recovered after meeting with early interference and finished gamely. MAGICIENNE broke slowly and could not reach the leaders. HI-GINNY tired after going three-quarters. BIG VICTORY had a rough trip with PETIT JEAN going to the first turn. NEMRAC also suffered from crowding going into the first turn.
