Kentucky News and Notes CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 5. M. J. Wellman will ship the seven horses he has here for Clyde Bothman of Ed-wardsville, 111., to Fairmount Park at the conclusion of the meeting. Clem Bothman, who was interested in several of the thoroughbreds, joined the United States Army Air Force Saturday and is now stationed at Scott Field. W. Graves Sparks trainer of the locally-owned Brown Hotel Stable of J. Graham Brown, reported that Trustee, victor in the 1942 renewal of the Debutante Stakes, came out of her race in good shape and that she will be pointed for other juvenile fixtures. Burley Parke is making preparations to transfer the John Marsch horses to Lincoln Fields in time to have all on the grounds before the meeting opens. This is one of ; the larger stables moving into the Crete track for the session opening a week from Monday. All of the Valdina Farms horses here will be loaded for shipment to Suffolk Downs at an early hour Wednesday. Two mem- ; bers of this establishment, namely Valdina Orphan and Fairmond, are at Pimlico, I where the former is to start in the Preak- ness Stakes on Saturday. Charles Sanborn may take up several | more horses at Lexington before the close of the Downs meeting. Sanborn is pres-I ently looking after G. H. Stevens Catalonia jand Rockwick, as well as A. L. Fergusons Flash Town and Uncle Jock. ! Herbert M. Woolf, owner of the Wool- ford Farm, has gone to New York, where he may remain for the opening of the Belmont meeting. Leslie Lewis reported the arrival of an eight-pound son at St. Joseph Hospital I here. Mrs. Lewis and the youngsters are coming along nicely. Mrs. E. Mason, of Chicago, is visiting her son, jockey William Grant Mason, who is under contract to Jake Lowenstein. I Dan Stewart, trainer of the Joseph E. ; Widener stable, reports no improvement ; in the condition of the three-year-old I Nipsickle, who has what may prove a seri-j ous hock ailment. The colt, a son of Sickle and Nipisquit, was regarded as possible stake timber. He is at Elmendorff Farm. Joseph Baumbach, trainer of a public stable here, announced that his charges i will be transferred to the Detroit Fair I Grounds on May 18. Robert Needhams useful Cerebus will head the shipment to the Motor City course. Keene Daingerfield, Jr., has added Mrs. ;E. L. Martins Supreme Sir to his public I stable. Daingerfield will ship his contingent ! to Detroit after the close of the local spring 1 meeting. James O. Scott, trainer for the Smith . G. Baker, Sr., stable, stated that the unit ! will be shipped to the Detroit Fair Grounds | after the close of the Downs season on ! May 16. L. A. "Doc" Linabary is an arrival and will remain for the entire spring session. ■ Linabary will then proceed to Detroit, where he is a member of the Fair Grounds mutuel department. W. Graves Sparks, trainer of the locally owned Brown Hotel Stable, reported that Trustee, winner of the Debutante Stakes, came out of her engagement in excellent shape. T. D.
