DARBY DINGBAT, steered to the outside of FIRE POWER, wore down the latter under constant pressure and was drawing away under a drive at the finish. FIRE POWER, away alertly, set the pace under urging and had no excuses. HYDRANT, prominent while the field was bunched early, dropped back after five-sixteenths and came again in the drive VALDINA DART attempted to press the early pace and was only able to threaten briefly. BELIEVE, not hurried while EMPTY PLATE set the pace under urging, reached the latter from the outside at the three-eighths post and was roused late when O. K. JOE moved fast. The latter, allowed to drop back momentarily when pinched off as the winner rushed up, slipped through along the rail entering the stretch and finished strongly. BY CONSCRIPT had no mishaps. LITTLE WIZARD could not keep up and had no excuses. EMPTY PLATE set a good pace to the stretch,- then fell back. KATHY went forward briefly along the rail. VALDINA JOE, hustled into immediate command, tired badly after seven-eighths and was all out through the stretch. PEARL HARBOR made up ground from the outside on faltering horses. BOPENKO closed a gap late. BATIK, pinched off after the start, trailed for seven-eighths and closed strongly. VALDINA REX and MR. CHICLE tired. Overweight Batik, 1 pound. Claimed Pearl Harbor by C.
