Grooms Demands Met HAMILTON, Ont., June 24. The initial days sport of the first summer meeting of the Hamilton Jockey Club was held up for about 15 minutes, when the majority of grooms having horses in the event refused to lead their charges to the post. It was a strike and the lads were asking for the same fee given, them on all Toronto tracks. The officials of the Hamilton Jockey Club called upon owners and even valets to bring the- horses to the post, but the effort was fruitless. After little deliberation, the Hamilton Jockey Club officials conceded to the grooms request and now they will be paid for each horse brought to the paddock and and additional to the groom of the winner.
