Occupation Goes In Lawrin Purse Marsch Speedster to Give Five Opponents Weight in Todays Homewood Feature HOMEWOOD, 111.. June 24. Occupation, withdrawn from Saturdays Equipoise Mile, will take a crack at a ,500 purse Monday when he goes postward in the feature event on that days program. The six-furlong distance will be made to order for the Marsch star, and he is favored by an outside post position in the small field. His 120 pounds should not prove too much of a burden. Therefore, in all probability, he will be one of the shortest-priced favorites of the season. The race, in which Occupation will compete against five others, has been designated the Lawrin, in honor of the former . Woolford Farm star and Kentucky Derby winner. Carrying three pounds less than the highweight will be Bright Willie, winner of the Au Revoir Handicap on the closing day of the Lincoln Fields meeting, while next in line will be Calumet Farm Staples Armed, who defeated the western star Sirde on opening day, and Pirate, six-year-old son of Pilate. The others entered are Tellmenow, recent winner at Washington Park, and Sameron. Twosy in Juvenile Dash Some clever two-year-old fillies will vie for honors in the fifth race, to be known as the Miss Dogwood and to be at the five and one-half furlongs distance. Calumet Farm will start the clever miss Twosy, a very easy winner in her first outing at this track, while trainer J. P. Sallee will send Lady Kentucky, a Hawthorne winner, post-ward for Thomas Piatt, and Blue Skimmer, a double winner at Hawthorne, will race for the interests of Dr. Eslie Asbury. Surosa, a Foxcatcher Farm filly who recently graduated at Belmont Park; Caroline Ann, who broke out of the ranks of the non-winners at Hawthorne; Valdina Trial, who won her first four starts of the year; Miss Tartan, a double winner at Churchill Downs, and Bosage, who has been racing fairly well, are the others. Another race on the program deemed worthy of a title is the Singing Wood, for three -year-olds, at one mile. Howard Wells, trainer for Walmac Farm, has named a strong entry in Old Kentuck, winner at Hawthorne, and Native Fox, who was successful both at Hawthorne and the present Arlington meeting. Native Fox is the high-weight, with 118 pounds. Wrightwood, from the Marsch stable; Twixt, who finished fast last time out; Leavenworth, who failed when installed a short-priced favorite recently, .and several others of ability will contest the issue. The race will come seventh on the list. Concluding the program will be the longest race of the afternoon. The distance will be one and one-eighth miles, and the former Chicago favorite Blueberry Pie will be numbered among the starters. Blueberry Pie took command at the head of the stretch in a recent turf race won by Put In and . may be favored against this company, which includes Kanopolis, Drollon, Deseronto, Super Justice, Opening Bid and Reaping Gold.
