Fillies will have feature-billing during the ensuing week of the Arlington Park Jockey Clubs sport on its war-time Washington Park scene. The 0,000 Princess Doreen Stakes of six furlongs, for three-year-olds of the. sex, will be "the magnet that attracts" on Wednesdays mid-week program. Saturdays card will be notable for the running of the 5,000 added Arlington Lassie, at the same distance for two-year-old fillies. . Mondays offerings include a public trial for the Lassie in the Miss Dogwood Purse, a five and a half furlongs allowance event that has a promised field of eight, including the eligibles, Surosa, an invader from the East, Calumets Twosy and Dr. E. Asburys Blue Skimmer. This afternoon, William Helis Delphi qualified for the Lassie, defeating H. P. Headleys Oh Mandy impressively in a maiden race. Another prospective Lassie starter is Col. C. V. Whitneys gray Mahmoud filly, Monsoon, who is reputedly a runner. Two far better known fillies are hopefully expected to meet in Wednesdays Princess Doreen. They are Calumets Twilight Tear, whom many regard as the keenest of the seasons three-year-olds ir- respective of gender, and her dazzling rival, Durazna. Both trainer Ben Jones of the former and John Goode of the Combs filly have expressed their intention of starting their renowned charges. If only they appeared, the Princess Doreen would contain unusual "box office." In addition to the two stakes fixtures, the condition book provides other opportunities for fillies and mares during the week. Meanwhile, the Arlington-at-Wash-ington meet is enjoying favorable weather breaks and promises to prove an unqualified success, both from a financial standpoint and in contributing to the seasons championship ratings in the various di- visions.
