SENATE, waited with early, moved into closer contention on the turn, responded well when called upon to come between horses in the drive, closed fast and drew out to win easily. ALL GOOD opened up a clear lead at once, was steadied in front into the stretch, but could not withstand the bid of the winner. TEMPLET, forwardly placed from the beginning, closed gamely. BENGAL BOY moved up on the outside in the backstretch and challenged stoutly in the stretch, then faltered. MIBOB had good early speed, but weakened. STRICTLY TRUE was done early. ROI ROUGE, under steadying restraint until leaving the backstretch, moved around the leaders with a rush, then drew clear and won easily. GREGALACH, well placed early, continued well, but was no match for the winner. ROYAT, unable to match the speed of the early leaders, saved ground and closed well. GOLDEN MAN had speed to open up a clear lead, gave way to the winner, then faltered badly in the final sixteenth. GOLD MIKE was never prominent. Overweight— Royat, 1 pound. SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. KHAYYAMS KID had speed to open a long lead immediately after the beginning, went slightly wide entering the stretch and just lasted to hold HELENS BOY. The latter, permitted to settle in stride, moved up gradually on the turn, went to the inside of the winner and just failed to get up. DEVILSAND, waited with in the early racing, responded to urging to improve his position on the outside on the turn and closed well. GIANT STAR, very slow to settle in stride, made up some ground. TRIMDEM was used up chasing the winner and weakened Clip Clop claimed by S. Valenti. Trimdem claimed by Grissom and Sherman; Devilsand claimed by R. A Connell Giant Star claimed by M. H. VanBerg. SQUEEZIT moved into closer contention on the outside on the final turn, was placed to punishment, disposed of SAMBO, then withstood a stiff duel from IDLE SUN. The latter was bothered at the start when FLY WHISK broke out, was far back early, then moved up very fast on the inside through the stretch, took a short lead between calls and just failed to last. FLY WHISK had good early speed while racing with the leaders, but weakened. POLAR EVE, a forward factor, moved into a short lead on the inside on the final turn, then flattened out. SKI DAD was never dangerous. SAMBO quit badly after showing early speed. Fly Whisk claimed by A. J. Halliwell. Attendance, 12,207; Total Mutuel Pool, 53,244. Returned to Public, 07,920, Less Breakage.
