Segula to Carry Belair Silks in Hannah Dustin Elpis, Recce, Letmenow Big Trio For Suffolks Filly-Mare Stake SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 13. — Racing secretary John P. Turner received word today from James "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons who conditions the Belair Stud string of William Woodward, that the New York establishment will be represented by Segula in the 5,000 Hannah Dustin Handicap on Saturday, which will be the tenth renewal of that mile and a sixteenth event for fillies and mares. Segula will arrive here from New York on Friday and probably will be "blown out" for the race Saturday morning. Jimmy Stout, veteran rider for the Belair Stud, will come over to pilot the Johnstown filly in her assignment. In her last outing Segula finished a bang-up second, beaten a half length, to Darby Delilah in a class D race in New York. The winner was timed in 1:11%. The Belair miss was the winner of six races during 1945, four of them in class D, and two in purse events. Segula will be tackling a stiff assignment in Saturdays filly and mare event because she will be called upon to meet, among others, William Helis Elpis, the winner last year; C. V. Whitneys Recce and Hal Price Headleys Letmenow. Elpis has been at the track for more than a week now and showed that she was just as capable over it this year as she was last by accounting for the Trial Purse last Saturday. Recce will probably be made the favorite in the Hannah Dustin because of her outstanding New York performances but Elpis, Segula and Letmenow will probably receive considerable support. Elpis and Letmenow were galloped over the muddy racing strip this morning and will probably be tightened up with good workouts tomorrow. While Elpis and Letmenow were only galloped, three other eligibles for the weekend feature, Miss Balladier, Sis Rosie and Stepping Miss were given tighteners. Stepping Miss, who will receive considerable support from those shopping around for something to beat the favorite, was sent a half mile in :51%, while Miss Balladier went the same distance in :52. Sis Rosie was "blown out" three furlongs in :38. Recce arrived from New York today, but not in time to do any work for Saturdays assignment. She probably will be on the track tomorrow morning, because trainer Sylvester Veitch is expected to be on hand by that time to supervise her final preparation. Others who must be considered probable starters in the Hannah Dustin are T. C. Melroses Melcavano, A. Shlagers Jamoke, L. Sidells Layout and Ruth Sidells Burgoo Maid.
