Two Groups of Californians To Operate Golden Gate Park HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 13. — Joseph DiGiorgio, fruit grower and owner of the La Favorita Farm, and Ed Young, Los Angeles attorney, will head groups which will operate Golden Gate Park, it was learned here today. DiGeorgio who will head a group of San Francisco sportsmen and businessmen, and Young, who represents Los Angeles interests, met in Los Angeles today with R. G. Rydin, executive representative of the president of the Santa Fe Railroad, which owns the Albany, Calif., race track property, and it is understood they came to a tentative agreement under which the DiGiorgio and Young groups will lease the plant. Articles of incorporation will be filed within the next two weeks, it was said. The new group will not take over possession of Golden Gate Park until January 1, at which time rehabilitation of the property will begin. The Navy used the place as a landing craft repair base during the war. William Helis, New Orleans sportsman and oil man, is understood to have made a substantial bid for the property but it was rejected. Although only the names of DiGiorgio and Young have been brought into the picture at this time it is understood that a number of prominent sportsmen and financiers from both northern and southern California are interested in the venture.
