RARE MATE was hustled into command and showed speed, but could not stave off the winner. JET PLANE made up ground in the stretch and finished well. GRAYMAR ROYAL was outrun early and finished fast. SHELDON DUCRET was carried wide rounding to the stretch turn, responded to pressure in the stretch and wore down WHATUCALLUM in the final drive. The latter came over sharply after the beginning and drew away into a long lead, but tired badly in the final drive. ANECDOTE was sent to the inside rounding to the stretch turn and finished well. COLORSET, a prominent factor early, bore out rounding the far turn and carried the winner and FAMES BID wide. The latter tired badly in the late stages. QUICK CHANCE began slowly. ALLIER was a prominent factor from the beginning, moved up on the outside entering the final quarter to dispose of BATTLE CRUISER. The latter stumbled after the beginning, recovered quickly, assumed a short lead, saved ground and held on well. GRAND FLAG was outrun all the way. FIRST STAGE raced extremely wide after taking the second hurdle on the turn, then fell against the fence and TETON fell over him. The latter was forced back after the beginning and was moving up well when he fell. ACE STAR stumbled and lost rider on the flat after taking the eighth hurdle. INROC began in a tangle, moved up fast on the inside, was under severe pressure in the stretch run and was in close quarters when the winner bore over. HIPPODROME raced forwardly from the start, then faltered. PHANTASY quit badly after showing early speed. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner, but was not allowed.
