Plan to Distribute 65,000 In Purses at Ascot Park Meet AKRON, O., June 13.— Plans for "Northeastern Ohios greatest race meeting" were revealed here today by D. E. Cronin, general manager of the Ascot Park Jockey Club. Picturesque Ascot Park, the three-quarter mile track located on Route 8, the Cleveland-Akron Highway, will be the scene of a 19-day race meeting, starting July 10. Cronin said that 65,000 in purses will be distributed among the horsemen — a new high for Ascot. Scheduled to be run during the meeting are a number of annual Ascot fixtures, including the Ascot Gold Cup, Ascot Victory Plate, the Speed Handicap and the Akron Handicap. The Ascot Park Jockey Club already has opened offices in the Mayflower Hotel here with Bob Linn as office manager. Horsemen are asked to wire, phone or write immediately for stall accommodations.
