VACANCE, slow to settle in best stride, moved into contention with a rush nearing the stretch and outfinished MITYME. The latter was forwardly placed throughout and fought it out willingly. GEMSBOK and BULLET PROOF raced on even terms* most of the way and weakened slightly in the final furlong. STARRY CANT showed an even effort. WORRIES raced in close attendance of the pace from the beginning, displaced the leader in midstretch and drew clear without pressure. MEND improved her position between horses on the turn and was closing ground on the winner. LITTLE BUNNY was slower than usual getting under way and closed fastest. HEARTS ENTWINE set the earl_pace and flattened out badly in the drive. TENNESSEE MAID failed to improve her position. JOHNS STAR rallied too late. MIGHTIEST weakened after showing early speed. PERSEPOLIS raced within striking distance of the pace while fencing fairly well, responded to strong urging after the final fence and outfinished CREAMERY. The latter was well back after a mile and a half mile, moved into prominence when FIRST FLIGHT lost rider, then showed good courage in the drive. LAST recovered well after hobbling at the second fence, assumed a clear lead at the final jump, then faltered. OUR ARMS broke out slightly at the start and was never a serious factor. BIG THREE quit after a mile. CHANCEFIELD was trailing when he lost rider at the thirteenth jump. TETROL and LIEUT. WELL movea into contention together and were battling for supremacy when each lost his rider at the thirteenth obstacle. PORT MARLY lost rider at the third fence. Scratched— 98695 Middle River, 143. RANGER MOSBY, always within striking distance of the leaders, overcame much trouble through the stretch and was up in the final stride over MISCHIEVIOUS. The latter was steadied when outrun for more than a half, forged to the front in the early stretch, went in slightly while assuming the lead and just failed to last. RINGTHEBELL closed with a belated rush on the extreme outside. DOON WELL was always forwardly placed and held on well. TRAVANCORE showed agood effort after being badly outrun along the backstretch. BUZZ BOMB showed nothing SUNSET BAY failed to reach contention. SNOWGO quit to a walk after a half. GREY-DEL quit. ALLS OVER was pulled up when outrun. ARARAT was always prominent and was best of the others BLUE ASTER lacked speed early, saved ground while rallying and is better than the race shows LA LA closed willingly under pressure. FLYING LEVEL quit badly. QUICK NEWS was hard pressed while nearest the leader and quit badly in the final quarter.
