BRILLIANT JR., never far back and under restraint, moved to the front when called upon and drew out to win easily. UP FRONT improved his position very gradually, went slightly wide entering the stretch, finished well, but was no match for the winner. SO ALONE was sent into a clear lead, saved ground, but weakened at the end. PILATEER was under pressure to improve his position on the outside and closed well. DEEP RED was never dangerous, SPOON BREAD swerved in after the start and did not enter serious contention. STARGOO had early speed, but was used up trying to get to the front. WHISCENDENT was not hurried early, moved into closer contention on the outside on the final turn, went around HEESADATE in the stretch and wore the latter down after a stiff drive. HEESADATE was sent into a clear lead at once, was well rated in the lead, saved ground and just failed to last. CODE MENTOR lacked early speed, improved his position gradually and closed well. TACOMA trailed the field early, then closed a good gap. RANDOM BREEZE moved up to challenge on the backstretch, but flattened out. HY RICKEY could not keep up. MILKYMOON was never prominent.
