SUN FLAME, in hand while the field was bunched after a quarter, was sent through on the inside, assumed command and drew out readily. FLOAT AWAY, forwardly placed on the outside, gained a lead leaving the backstretch, but was unable to match strides with the winner, though holding on gamely. CRAZY HORSE worked way up between horses to finish stoutly. PSYCHIC WAVE, in close quarters on the inside, continued gamely under pressure. MOON POOL showed a good effort. FLYING HERO was not good enough. JELWELL had no excuse. ELMO GRIER moved through on the inside to gain contention, then was steered to the outside, losing ground in a dull effort. CZECH LASS lost all chance when caught in close quarters soon after the start. GALLANT AGENT disposed of OVER ICE after a quarter, lost command to KENGAR entering the stretch, then came again under steady urging to outfinish KENGAR. The latter broke slowly, was sent up between horses to gain contention, came through on the inside to take command, then faltered under steady urging. PSYCHIC RATE moved within striking distance of the pace nearing the far turn, was blocked while trying to get through on the inside, then finished willingly. PHANTOM PLAYER outbroke his rider, was not hustled while setting into best stride, then finished well under pressure. NOISILY, well up on the outside, failed to respond to intermittent pressure. MARY NOVICK was outrun. OVER ICE quit. A claim of foul against KENGAR was not allowed. Scratched— 19416 Chklette, 113. Overweight— Mary Novick, 2 pounds. FOURTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. SKIPPER Z. showed speed from the beginning, saved ground, was taken back slightly to allow MATTIE SUE to set the pace, then rallied when set down and drew out. ONE TO TWO, well up under steadying restraint, rallied to pressure to close willingly. MAE WATCH was hustled from the start, maintained a good position on the outside to press the leaders in the late stages. MATTIE SUE dwelt at the start, was hustled to reach the leaders and assumed command, then weakened under a drive. CHANTICLEER had no excuse. KATES SILVER lacked early speed. PARK AVENUE failed to respond to urging. RIOTOUS REBEL raced evenly. EVERPLAYFUL quit badly and was eased through the stretch. A claim of foul against the winner was not allowed. MATADOR JOHN assumed command early, was allowed to widen advantage under light restraint, swerved slightly in the stretch, then was roused and drew out. AIR BRAKES, never far back, moved around horses on the final turn and finished willingly under pressure. TRIDENT showed a good effort. ANDREA KAY was bothered slightly by the riderless horse rounding the final turn. SWAG closed gamely. FLIGHT MAN showed nothing. SAM NORRIS was moving into contention when the jam occurred on the turn and failed to recover. RIGHTWING was pulled up to avoid hitting the fallen rider. APR0PIAD0, under stout restraint for six furlongs, moved up on the outside to assume command, was put to a steady drive and outfinished GOLDEN THORN. The latter was under steadying restraint while close up, was caught between the leaders entering the stretch and raced evenly to the final seventy yards, then unleased a burst of speed that just missed. BARNACLE was rated along in front under light restraint, saved ground and held on tenaciously SLENDER LADY moved up on the outside in the stretch, then faltered. MOMO FLAG, close to the pace the entire trip, flattened out in the last furlong. Y GUN was outrun. Overweight— Apropiado, 2 pounds; Barnacle, 3; Slender Lady, 5. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. ANVELT opened a clear lead at once, was steadied along under a snug hold, rallied mildly when roused, then faltered at the end LAND CRUISER flattened out in the last furlong.
