* ] ] « 1 Limit Field of Sprinters In Franklin Park Purse Builder and Doras Son Seen As Main Contenders at Cicero SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 8. — The program for the semi-final day of racing at this meeting caters to the lesser lights of the local racing colony as the handicap division remains on the sidelines in preparation for their appearances in the Chicago and Winnetka Handicaps on Saturday. However, the program is an interesting one featured by the Franklin Park Purse, and under the conditions of the races carded, there is a definite promise of keen competition in every event. The Franklin Park has drawn a limit field that includes several representatives that have shown to advantage in their local campaigns. It is a five-furlong dash for a prize of ,500, and Anthony Ferraras Builder appears to have an excellent chance to show to advantage. The son of Tedious was a convincing front-running winner of the Berwyn Purse on opening day of the meeting. That was a test at six and a half furlongs, and his score came as a surprise, for he led home several highly-regarded opponents to attest his present fitness and ability. Doras Son, who races for Ben Johnson, flashed keen early speed in Wednesdays Speed Handicap, in which he was matched with stiff competition, but he was unable to carry his lick the full distance. He may last longer in the Franklin Park. H. G. Knott has named Whosyourgal for the headliner, and this daughter of Hadagal displayed keen early speed in her local engagements in both of which she was third. Another who failed to carry her pace-setting speed all the way in her latest engagement in the Fairfax Purse, was Brown Dame, from the stable of Crosby and Thomas. That race should have served as a tightener. Nellie Weed, who races for Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Sopsic, is on the "also-eligible" list, but if the Teddy Weed mare moves into the race she compels consideration on the strength of her smashing second in the Fairfax Purse. Mrs. G. H. Emicks Handy Lad is another who is on the "also-eligible" list and could make his presence felt against adversaries of this calibre if he moves into the race. L. M. Seversons Huri Horn Hari is a prime favorite with local patrons, but the son of Spic and Span has not been at his best in his seasonal outings and would have to improve to annex top honors here. Several of the others in the field have shown to advantage recently and could earn some part of this purse if favored by racing luck.
