International Chase Attracts Field of Five Chesapeake, Boojum II., Hidalgo To Carry Mrs. F. A. Clark Colors BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 8. — The Turf and Field Club set have their inning at Belmont Park tomorrow, when the first steeplechase stake of the meeting is the feature offering. This is the 0,000 International Steeplechase Handicap at "about" two miles, which will be having its fiftieth running. A small field of five familiar jumpers has been named for the test, which is headed by Kent Millers War Battle at 156 pounds. This fleet chaser will be opposed by a trio representing Mrs. F. Ambrose Clark, composed of Chesapeake, 141; Boojum TJ., 138, and Hidalgo, 137, plus Montpeliers Annotator, 137. The weight of numbers will probably make Mrs. Clarks trio the favorite in the International, though Annotator has raced consistently well and has beaten Chesapeake, while War Battle has occasionally given signs of being a first-class jumper. Hidalgo is the only one of the International field to have started in New York this season, winning the first chase of the season on Monday. Boojum II. has raced against the best jumpers for the past few years and occasionally come up with a fine race, particularly on a muddy track. A similar number have been entered for the best of the flat races, the Pandora Handicap, a test at a mile for fillies and mares. This test is headed by Maine Chance Farms War Date, winner of her two Jamaica starts, who gets in with 120 pounds. She will be opposed by Mrs. E. E. D. Shaffers Be Faithful, 117; C. V. Whitneys Recce, 113, and Mrs. W. Plun-ket Stewarts Rytina, and G. H. "Pete" Bostwicks Riskolater, 108 each.
