► 1 Sigma Kappa Dies CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 8. — Bernard J. Bax reported the death of his good broodmare, Sigma Kappa, a six-year-old daughter of Emileo and Grania. Sigma Kappa, an outstanding mare during her racing career, was retired to the stud last year and she was bred for the first time this season. Bax left today for Maryland to watch his colt, King Bay, contest the 1947 renewal of the Preakness Stakes.
