Faultless and Jet Pilot Added to List Of Probables for Tomorrows Withers Preakness, Derby Winners To Engage Owners Choice, Blue Border in Mile Test BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 15. — Saturdays seventy-second running of the 5,000 Withers Mile is shaping up as a horse race beyond all expectations. The latest additions to the probable field are Calumet Farms Preakness winner. Faultless, and Maine Chance Farms Derby victor, Jet Pilot. "Pinky" Browne, who became nationally known as Whirlaways exercise boy, and is now stable agent for Mr. and Mrs. Warren Wrights Calumet Farm, was instructed late this afternoon to enter Faultless. The consistent son of Bull Lea — Unerring galloped over the Belmont main track this morning. Maine Chance Farm engaged Eric Guerin to ride Jet Pilot in Saturdays fixture, though the colt appeared "dinky" and to have st weight after the Preakness, in which he finished fourth after swerving more than once. The colt has suffered quarter cracks in the past, but trainer Tom Smith said this morning, "Hes all right." In any case, Mrs. Elizabeth Graham, a lady with a mind of her own, appears determined that her colt be given the -earliest possible chance to gain revenge for the defeat suffered at the hands of Faultless in the Preakness. While the Derby and Preakness winners are the "name horses" of this edition of the Withers, they will not be alone in the field by any means. Mrs. John D. Hertz Owners Choice and Greentree Stables Blue Border are also expected to contest this historic mile. Owners Choice, who has always been highly regarded by his connections, but has often seemed a faint-hearted sort, won the Swift Stakes impressively last week. In the Swift, Owners Choice took the track at the start of the seven furlongs and ► was drawing away from I Will at the end, gaining another length of daylight in the stretch. The track was soft, however, and this helps this colt considerably. Blue Border was a complete disappointment in his first start at Jamaica. Then blinkers were added to his equipment for the first time and the colt gave indication that he again will be the classy thoroughbred he was last year, when he gained many votes as the best of the male youngsters. It was even contemplated that he might be sent to the Derby or Preakness, but trainer John Gaver ha3 been patient with Blue Border and he should be a fresh, hard-hitting colt in Saturdays fixture. Another interesting Withers possibility is Belair Studs Hyblaze, a vastly improved son of Hypnotist II., who has won his last two starts in impressive style. The others who may complete the field are Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Tavistock, Mill River Stables Secnav, C. V. Whitneys Bastogne and a remote possibility, Phalanx, and Walter P. Chryslers Brabancon.
