Y., May 14-— Saratogas stake list has been completed and dates assigned for the racing at the upstate j, track, to which the thoroughbreds are re- f turning on Monday, August 4, for the sec- • ond time since the suspension forced by the war. Adhering to the policy of listing a p stake for nearly each day of racing, the I Saratoga Association has programed 19 r flat stakes for the 24 days of racing at the E Spa, with two stakes increased in value. s As usual, the opening-day feature will be t the Wilson Mile. The Travers, one of the r oldest stake races in the United States and * I outstanding feature of the meeting, will be r run on Saturday, August 16. This is one of c the stakes increased in value, going from I 5,000, its value a year ago, to 5,000 in * added money for this years renewal. Started in 1864, when it had a value of , ,950, the Travers will be run for the j seventy-eighth time this season. One of the , great races for three-year-olds, the Travers is at a mile and a quarter and was won a year ago by Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Natchez. Highly Regarded Filly Race The other stake to be increased this season is the Alabama, which has been raised from 5,000 to 0,000. This is one of the j most highly regarded filly races, at a mile and a quarter, for three-year-olds and up- . ward. It is to be run on Wednesday, Au- , gust 20.
