High weight of 120 pounds has been assigned Rolling Hills Stables Offenbach for the main number. This fellow comes well recommended. He raced rather well at Gulfstream Park the past winter and his high flight of speed may permit him to run away from the opposition. He concedes two pounds to his nearest rival, Mrs. E. J. Greenways Hand Me Down. Next in line of weights, and each with 116 pounds, are O. D. Scotts Reds Yucca, J. O. Harts Valdina Loria, Mrs. C. S. McElwees Elton-head and P. J. Caprittos Dick Stickney. Remaining entrants are S. I. Bloomhardts Red Hi and A. E. Gardners Tommy Chic, with 115 pounds, respectively, and Goodman and Brysons Diamond Miss, who will carry 114 pounds. Thousand Horses Available There is ample racing material hereabouts for this session which, according to predictions, is expected to be the best ever at this historic plant. In addition to facilities for stabling on the grounds, other accommodations are at hand at Thistle Down, just across the road. In all there will be 1,000 horses in this vicinity when late arrivals check in. A factor due to aid tremendously in the success of the venture is that of "newcomers," that is, horsemen who have not previously campaigned here. In this category are such as the extensive outfit of the Gillespie Land and Irrigation Company. The string numbers 32 head and includes any number of horses that should be hard to beat. This will, of course, heighten interest in the sport. The plant presents a spic and span appearance. General manager John Masoni has provided as much more comfort as possible for visiting fans. Among such features is the installation of three more major entrances and outlets for the expediting of automotive traffic. The same racing officials who have in the past supervised the racing are again here. In the stewards stand will be Norris Royden, well-known also as the racing secretary at Californias Bay Meadows track; William Shewbridge, prominent in Maryland racing circles, and Matt Nelson. In the role of racing secretary is Emmett A. Hileman. Among new officials this year is Bryan Steele, who has been appointed assistant to the stewards. He was for eight years the starter at the Detroit Fair Grounds track and before that had dispatched fields for a number of years.
