Trio of Features Dots Todays Churchill Card Bymeabond Favored Over Four Route Opponents in Hard Tack CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 15. — The Hard Tack Purse, the Trys-ter Purse, and the Hilltown Purse are the best offerings on the semi-final program of the Churchill Downs spring meeting arranged for presentation here tomorrow The Hard Tack and the Tryster are for four-year-olds and upward, the former at one mile and one-sixteenth and the latter at six furlongs. The Hilltown is to match two-year-olds at five furlongs and each of the three top attractions drew small but well-balanced fields, suggesting good sport. The Hard Tack is the seventh race on the Friday card and J. Kel Houssels Bymeabond is the probable favorite over four useful middle -distance performers named to oppose him. Bymeabond, who raced well at Hot Springs before shipment to Kentucky, is topweight under the conditions of the Hard Tack and he is to shoulder 114 pounds. Bymeabond is in good condition at present but he will have to turn in a sharp effort tomorrow to defeat Mrs. A. M. Creechs Thunder Hoof, J. N. Thomas One Up, Valley View Farms Mannequin, and J. P. Keezeks American Eagle. Thunder Hoof, a consistent sort, always gives a good performance, while One Up recently won here but was disqualified for a stretch foul. American Eagle is improving with each start and Mannequin finished second to Mons Boy in the six-furlong Misstep Purse earlier in the meeting. The longer distance of the Hard Tack should suit Mannequin and her morning trials have been above average. The Tryster shapes up as a good sprint number and Fado, a representative of the John A. Kinard, Jr., stable, may be the choice over her six opponents. Fado defeated a band of platers at six furlongs here, but has shown marked improvement and could be dangerous if she races in her best form. Mrs. Lottie Wolfs silks are to be carried in the dash by Snappy Verse, who campaigned smartly the latter part of the 1946 campaign and during the New Orleans winter season. E. B. McAtees Wonderwho, Mrs. A. G. Powells Lucky B., M. J. McDonalds Did Play, J. Sullis Newscaster, and Detroit Stables Count Foray complete the field for the Tryster. Count Foray is at his best on an "off" track, but can handle a dry strip and he will be assured good handling from apprentice George Monson, contract rider for the Motor City-owned establishment. Dixie Dinah, Joseph A. Goodwins homebred daughter of Balladier and Beatit, looked good when she accounted for the Top Flight Purse and she is rated a major contender in the Hilltown. Dixie Dinah beat Sun Tavy, Play Again, Mon Speed and others of that class and she appears well placed in the Friday juvenile number. The Creech Stables Hilltown hope is Sala Lou, Gleeson and Litwin will start Fore Caddy, Mrs. Frank P. Letellier will depend on Scipio, while Sir Flint is scheduled to carry the popular colors of the local patron, William Veeneman.
