: Eleven Three-Year-Olds Match Speed In Main Event on Lincoln Fields Card | . i . Little Stick, Nevermo, * ► Tree Mount and Susie C. Named for Sprint Test HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 15.— Lacking an outstanding feature, tomor-3 rows program at Hawthorne maintains interest at a high level by the even balance of the fields in each of the eight races. With the exception of the fourth race, which is fashioned for maidens four years old and older, the contests all carry claiming conditions and this great leveller as-. sures evenly-matched fields in every event. The six-furlong sixth race confined to three-year-olds carrying ,000 claiming tags, brings together the best field on the card. Here 11 sophomores will vie and the contenders are very hard to separate. F. P. Aimes Little Stick brings a good record from his New Orleans campaign, where the son of Sunsun was able to account for a couple of races. Woolford Farms Westernaire is a first-time starter and has trained to the satisfaction of his connections. The son of Lawrin might be ready at first asking. L. O. Handleys Nevermo has not started this year, but was able to win a race in 1946. These three are newcomers to the local colony. Of the others in the sixth race, M. H. VanBergs Tree Mount has had the benefit of a race to perfect his condition. He has a nice flight of early speed that should serve him well. Ben Fogelsons Betty Skelly was a disappointment in her local outings in which she came in for stout support and may make amends. Tricky Willie will carry the colors of Mrs. C. Valenti. A beaten favorite last trip, he was third against ,500 opposition in his previous race and was a winner over ,000 company at Sportsmans Park. Clyde Troutts Susie C. gave a good account of herself when she was third in her lone local outing over this track and she can be expected to improve off that effort. O. and L. Spitzers Reztips King has a third at Sportsmans to recommend him. W. H. Bishops Good Genii finished well to be second at last asking and left the impression that the distance here would be more ► to his liking than that five-furlong test. ; The field is completed by N. L. Rafflemans I W. A. Moore and F. O. Sanders Ferma, but a score from either of these would come in 1 the nature of a surprise. Principal interest here is centered on the increasing field for the 0,000 Joliet Stakes ; ! to be offered on Saturday. This five-furlong ; dash for juveniles will likely attract several entrants from Churchill Downs in [ addition to the best of the youngsters that ; have been seen under silks in this locale. • The most recent eligibles to arrive are Dix-ianas Safety First, Madison Stock Farms Lenoil; Merry Zac, from the stable of C. • Mauberret, Jr.; the William Mikel pair, ■ Hypostyle and Hypothesis; Murlogg Farms J Gee Whiz and Stepinfox, and Jean Fox 1 and Challorette, who race for Mrs. K. Ramsey and Miss Jean Cameron.
