HAVANA LAD worked his way forward gradually on the inside, came around the leaders entering the stretch, closed gamely when set down and was up to best COUNT BLUE, although bearing in in the final yards. COUNT BLUE, hard ridden from the beginning, saved ground throughout, reached the lead and held on well despite interference from the winner in the final strides. BLAK JADE, taken to the outside early, could not get up in the drive. CHIEF BUD raced with BARTOWN rounding the final turn, bumped the latter and tired. JEANREE made up some ground on the outside. BARTOWN set the pace under pressure, was bothered by CHIEF BUD and quit. SIR JIMMY lost ground. HAZEL OMAE quit. PERFECT MISS, forwardly placed from the beginning, wore down MISS PROVO in the stretch, opened a clear lead and won in hand. FLASH FLOOD, hard hustled throughout, came wide entering the stretch, responded to punishment and was up to dead-heat BENADDI. The latter saved ground and closed fast in the final yards. MISS PROVO opened a clear lead before a quarter, set the pace to midway of the stretch, then faltered. DELIVER forced the pace on the inside, but weakened in the drive. LECARTO had no mishap. DEVILROLE could not keep up. EVER BLUE never threatened. PLAY AGAIN outsprinted LADY BABETTE before a quarter, opened a clear lead and held on determinedly to best ANCHORESS. The latter was a prominent factor on the outside, came gamely when punished in the drive and was getting to the winner. AYRAN lost ground racing on the outside, came between horses in the drive and finished well. SKYDUE could not better his position at the end. WEE MISTRESS raced well between horses. DAME DAMION, away slowly, made up ground in a good effort. LITTLE NAOMI could not keep up LADY BABETTE was done early. SAFE GIFT had no excuse. ROXIANNA was carried wide on the turn by LORITA. COMPATRIOT, prominently placed on the outside, came to the inside for the drive and closed gamely, just missing. MISS TARTAN made a strong bid rounding the final turn, then weakened. ROSE BED closed well to midway of the stretch, faltered and appeared short. PRINCE AETHEL performed evenly WALTERS BOY was outrun. BABY DUMPLING dropped back steadily. CASTEL BEAU, closer up than usual and between horses, was reserved to the stretch, responded readily and drew out to win as his rider pleased. ALICE SHERRILL saved ground throughout, came determinedly when punished and was up to best WATCH ANDY. The latter forced the pace while under mild restraint, took command rounding the final turn, could not withstand the winner and weakened. PUDDLE JUMPER made up some ground in the drive.
