Groom Demands Furnish Main Topic of Discussion California Turfmen Meet Sunday; Stable Help Ask 50 Per Month HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 15. — Members of the California Thoroughbred Owners and Trainers Association, and other horsemen will meet in the clubhouse at Hollywood Park Sunday morning to discuss the latest demands for grooms. The stable employes, who are becoming affiliated with the Teamsters union of the A. F. of L., are demanding a minimum wage of 50 per month in addition to 5 percent of the purses. The grooms demands grew out of the announcement by the Hollywood Turf Club that it will discontinue awarding special bonuses to grooms leading horses to the paddock for their races in compliance with the Code of Standards recently published by the Thoroughbred Racing Association, of which the Inglewood track is a member. Hollywood Park will become the first California track to abandon the policy of awarding bonuses to grooms.
