War Vets Ask Cancellation Of Lease on Albany Track LOS ENGELES, Calif., May 15. — Cancellation of the lease on the Albany racetrack, recently granted by the Sante Fe Land Improvement Company, owners of the property, to the Pacific Turf Club, Inc., is sought in a petition filed with the California Public Utilities Commission. The petitioners are a group of ex-service men organized as the Albany Naval Station Veterans, headed by Richard A. Perkins, Los Angeles attorney. The veterans group seeks to have the commission order the Santa Fe Railway to cancel the present lease and execute a new lease under state supervision. They charge that the- railroads subsidiary granted the lease in consideration of benefits to be derived by the transportation company from freight traffic controlled by officials of the turf club.
