CHANTICLEER, forwardly placed between horses, gained command when the leader faltered, drew into a slight lead, saved ground and outfinished NARIAH. The latter worked way up between horses to gain contention entering the lane and closed resolutely. SIR BOB, slow to settle in best stride, finished with a rush in the middle of the track. IDENTIC forced the pace from the start and held on well. ELMO GRIER, outrun to the final quarter, made up ground under pressure. NATHS PET, well up, was forced to lose groun dwhen put to a drive. TAXI KING was not good enough. CHANCE ACE, hustled to take the early lead, was shuffled back when caught in close quarters and never recovered. SHAHEEN had speed for six furlongs, then quit. GENERAL JACK moved closest to the pace after a quarter and held on well, but was unable to menace. TWO DOWN moved menacingly after straightening in the drive, but was not good enough. ROUGH SHOWER raced evenly on the outside. MY BLITZEN, shuffled back soon after the start, rallied mildly under pressure. GAY KIT raced evenly. JOLLY BOY weakened in the late stages. TIN LOON was never a serious factor. HAGAR, forwardly placed for a half, tired. J0N0RA had brief speed. ELLEN MIST, unable to keep up early, rallied when straightened out for the drive, was sent to the inside and was up in the final stride. TASCOSA drew into a comfortable lead nearing the far turn,, was put to a steady drive and shortened stride in the final sixteenth. VINITA MAJOR, kept closest to the pace under urging, rallied mildly in the final sixteenth to draw on even terms with the leader, then faltered. PORT CHESTER was unable to make up ground under a drive. EXTRA BASE showed good speed to the final sixteenth. EBRO failed to rally when urged. MILKFLOAT showed nothing. HERCULES was unable to keep up. JUSTINIAN II. was outrun. ACKLEY moved menacingly on the far turn, then flattened out. TETRAFETTLE had brief speed. ARIEL ACTRESS, reserved off the early pace, rallied readily when set down, engaged BRAS TEDDY nearing the furlong pole to assume command - . and drew out under urging. BRAS TEDDY was hustled into a clear lead at once, was steadied along while saving ground and held on gamely after losing command. MARKSMAN, unable to keep up in the first quarter, finished willingly under pressure. FIRST COMMAND showed a good effort. DODOS GIRL raced evenly under pressure. RUBE, steadied while unable to run with the pace, slipped through on the inside entering the stretch, responded to pressure and was up in the final strides. GILDED TRUMP, hustled to gain early contention, was steadied to the far turn, moved up to engage MATADOR JOHN and gained command, but had nothing left to hold the winner. LITTLE SPOOKY closed stoutly on the extreme outside. LOLLING, quickest to begin, was taken back off the pace, saved ground while remaining in hand, was eased back and sent to the outside for the drive, then failed to respond to pressure. MATADOR JOHN shortened stride nearing the furlong pole. BULLHEAD showed nothing. JUDGE O. and HORN TOOTER were outrun. DWIGHT HARAR quit after five furlongs. ARIDISICAL, kept close to the pace while under light restraint, moved between horses on the final turn to engage SOME BID when straightened far the drive, responded when roused and drew out. SOME BID broke alertly, gained an early lead, was steadied while losing the lead to BOUNDING BOW, rallied when set down to regain the lead, but was not good enough. SON "OF HEELS raced evenly. The latter worked way up on the outside to finish willingly. ISLE DE PINE broke alertly, was taken back off the pace, was steadied to the final quarter, was roused and finished stouUy. VINUM opened a commanding early lead and held on gamely-when put to a drive, then faltered near the end JET PLANE, in hand for seven furlongs, failed to respond to pressure. RATH RONAN had no excuse. CANEE, in close quarters while straightening on the backstretch, rallied mildly when clear to enter contention in the final furlong, then raced evenly. OVER moved on the inside to threaten entering the stretch, then faltered. GREAT BEYOND set the pace under steadying restraint, but tired in the final quarter.- CRAZY HORSE lacked early speed. WISE CHANCE was never a serious factor. PSYCHIC RATE raced wide nearing the backstretch, was unable to gain the lead, then retired steadily. NERVESTA had speed for a half.
