La Salle May Bring Out Starting Field of Eleven Tiger Rebel, Mighty Story and Jack S. L. in Tomorrows Stake HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 29. The Lincoln Fields-at-Hawthorne meeting reaches its peak this week. The Francis S.- Peabody Memorial Handicap is to have its 1947 renewal on Memorial Day, and the La Salle Handicap, at one mile and three-sixteenths, will top the Saturday program. While the Peabody is presently drawing a major share of local turf followers attention, the La Salle promises to be one of the best attractions of the current Illinois season. Present indications are that a field of 11 of the original 22 nominees for the La Salle wil parade postward in the 0,000 added tilt, which is for three-year-olds and upward. Among those who may be under silks in the Saturday feature are Brent and Talbots Tiger Rebel, an old favorite with Chicago turf followers, and the winner of the 5,000 Churchil Downs Special last autumn. John Marschs Mighty Story, who was defeated in a sprint affair here, is another highly-regarded eligible and he will carry 123 pounds in the Saturday test, one pound less than the impost assigned Tiger Rebel. Mighty Story won in Kentucky before his transfer to Illinois and he was a stout performer last year, annexing the Peabody Memorial, the Meadowland Handicap and the Discovery Handicap. Mrs. John S. Letelliers Jack S. L., winner of the Crete Handicap and the Clark Handicap, is to take up 122 pounds in the La Salle and he is a gifted thoroughbred over the longer distances, as well as in the sprints. Uncle Mac, also from the Letellier barri1 is favorably weighted for the Saturday stake under 110 pounds and he has shown occasional flashes of class during his 1947 spring campaign. Others who may accept in the tenth running of the La Salle are Shadybrook Farms quick Sandslinger, 112; Jacob Lowensteins Porterfield, HO; Mrs. Emil Denemarks Fireworks, 106; R. W. Mcllvains Old Ken-tuck, 106; Valley Views Superwolf, 115; Clyde Troutts Take Wing, 114, and Wobl-ford Farms Sublime, assigned 102 pounds.
