Five Two-Year-Olds to Contest Issue In Worlds Playground Stakes Today Frenchtown, Wise Mahmoudt Expected to Attract Most Attention in Open Event ATLANTIC CITY, Mays Landing, N. J., May 29. Five two-year-olds have been named as overnight starters for the 0,000 Worlds Playgrounds Stakes, a five-furlong dash which will feature the Memorial Day program at this seashore course tomorrow. Despite the disappointingly small field, a keen contest is anticipated, as there does not appear to be a standout juvenile in the quintet. In post position order the line-up will comprise J. R. Steinemans Wise Mahmoud, Brookmeade Stables Musician, Leo Edwards Still Champ, Shamrock Stables Bullet Bill, and Walter M. Jeffords Frenchtown. Musician and Frenchtown were transferred from New York to perform in tomorrows event. On paper Frenchtown and Wise Mahmoud shape up as the natural choices, the first named having been an excellent winner at Pimlico, while Wise Mahmoud was a winner here on opening day through a disqualification. Frenchtown is an altered son of Little-town French Grey and was owner Jeffords only nominee to the stake. In his second appearance under silks, Frenchtown graduated from the maiden ranks quite impressively, registering a six-length victory in what was one of the finest performances by a juvenile during the Pimlico meeting. Belmont Park provided the locale for most of the geldings serious training for tomorrows engagement, but he indicated a fondness for the local track by virtue of a splendid three-eighths trial this morning I in :35, breezing. The very capable Dan MacAndrew has been assigned the mount! on the Jeffords stalwart. A 1,500 yearling, the smooth-striding gray colt Wise Mahmoud turned in an impressive effort in his local debut last Monday. The fact that the son of Mahmoud Born Wise earned brackets by virtue of a disqualification did not distract from his performance because the Buxton-trained colt was racing head and head with the pacemaking Anchoress when Hullabaloo came over sharply near the finish to provoke a foul. Mrs. Sloane, who bid 2,000 to ODtain Musician in the 1946 yearling sales, appears to have a fine prospect in the dark : brown son of Balladier Tacky Sue. Like Frenchtown, Musician also prepped at Belmont Park for this engagement, having arrived at the local course only yesterday. , Mrs. Sloane nominated a quartet of juveniles for the Worlds Playground, and the : fact that trainer Pres Burch is starting only Musician rather indicates the veteran . conditioner thinks highly of the colt. Bullet Bill, a gelded son of Third Degree ! Idatam, is regarded as the swiftest ; youngster in the Shamrock Stable. Bullet ; Bill has been working splendidly under the i supervision of trainer Jimmy McGee and is ready for a sterling performance. Still Champ, acquired by owned Edwards ; from the Greentree Stable, was a winner at ; Gulfstream Park and is a strong finisher. The gelded son of Amphitheatre Never Change holds as good a chance as any in l the wide open field. Last year trainer Preston Burch saddled I Donor to take down the lions share of the ; Worlds Playground purse.
